Welcome to my Blog

I am a grandmother to 4 little girls. I blog about the things I make for them, review patterns, provide tutorials on how I've dealt with techniques or problems, which I hope may help others, and give links to the (mostly) free patterns I use. Every so often, I do a 'Best of..' post listing the best free patterns I've found under specific headings - babies, girls, boys etc. Enjoy the Blog!

About Me

I'm a very happy grandmother of  4 little girls. When the first was due, this inspired me to get out my old sewing machine, and search the web for ideas for making clothes and other things for the new babies. And start blogging about it!

As yet, I haven't organised my blog very well - I'm still new to this, too. But it will hopefully improve as I get more experience. I'm learning how to give links that will make it easier to find things.

But you can click on the links at the top to find different categories - making baby dresses, free baby patterns, etc., use the Search box at the side,  Or Contact Me.

I write about things I have made, with tips on how I got round any problems. There's the odd tutorial. And there are lots of pattern reviews, mostly free PDF patterns. And every so often, I do a round up of the best free PDF patterns around at the time - for babies, girls, boys, etc. Some designers provide a large number of free patterns, others just one or two as a promotion for their paid-for patterns. I don't have anything against p[aid-for patterns, in fact I do have quite a large collection! But I do like seeing what I can make from a free pattern. Often the fancy patterns are just a very simple patterns with a frill added, which you could make from a free pattern (and add a frill!)

I should point out that where people provide free patterns, this is generally on the basis that their designs should not be used commercially, i.e. they are for personal use only. (And that includes me, where I provide a pattern. All of mine are free.) It's not fair when people are generous enough to share with other like-minded people, that their kindness should be taken advantage of. All of my efforts have been to make things for my grand-children. I like to think that anyone who learns anything from my blog is in a similar situation, making things for their own children, or those of friends and relatives.

Hopefully, I'll become a more sophisticated blogger eventually. So watch this space!
